Directions
There are two route options when driving to Glenthorne Station, either a 30 minute drive from HW 72 (The Inland Scenic Route) turning off at Windwhistle or the Lyndon Road option from HW 73 (The Great Alpine Highway) which also takes approx. 30 minutes. The best way to get to us in the winter months is via Windwhistle as the Lyndon Road option can sometimes be closed for small periods of time due to snow and ice.
Driving Times
- Christchurch International Airport: 1 & 1/2 hrs.
- Christchurch City Centre: 1 & 3/4 hrs.
- Methven, Mt Hutt Village: 45 min.
- Mt Hutt Ski Area: 50 min. to base of acces road. To get from the base of the access road to the car park can take up to 40 min depending on conditions. 4WD vehicles with chains may be required.
- Arthurs Pass & Viaduct: 1 hr.
- Springfield & boarding of Tranz Alpine train: 40 minutes.
- Darfield & Hororata: 50 min.
- Ashburton: 1 hr & 20 min.
- West Coast (Hokitika or Greymouth): 2 & 1/2 hrs.
